Birdies

Before Klive was born, I really wanted to make him a mobile that would hang close to his changing table.  I even bought most of the supplies that I needed.  Alas, it did not happen.  I had seen this mobile from Pottery Barn Kids back when I was decorating his room.

I can't remember the exact price, but I think it was around $40.  Ummm, I don't think so.  The birds were made of paper!  I can totally make something close to that!

So, nine months after his birth, I finally completed his mobile.  Not as pretty or full as the Pottery Barn version, but I like it.  It took quite some time to trace and cut out all those little birds.  I used a thicker style of scrapbook paper for the birds, and they are hot glued on to fishing line.  Kind of like a bird sandwich.  Yes, that is two birds smashed together.  Like I said, lots of little birdies.  Kevin took two sticks and secured them in the middle with some wire.  The mobile is suspended from the ceiling by fishing line and hanging from a hook that is screwed in from the ceiling.  We already had everything, so the only think we spent money on was the paper.  The mobile ended up costing us a whopping $3!

Here is Klive's view of the mobile from his changing table.

8 Months

I'm a little behind on my posting.  I recently purchased a new camera and I didn't realize that it didn't come with a USB cable, so I ordered one and just got it in the mail yesterday.

Well, we have entered a whole new world.  Klive is mobile!  He is almost to where he can pull up to a standing position on his own.  He loves to stand up.  The entertainment center is especially interesting to him.  He could stand here and play for a good long while.

He is enjoying exploring this whole new world.

He started crawling forward almost two weeks ago and just hasn't stopped.  He even has his own little tunnel, thanks to the end table.

He loves his Papa's (Kevin's new name instead of Dada or Daddy) commentaries.  They are his favorite new toy.

He especially likes the one on Revelation.

He loves to roll around on the floor and play.  Soon he will be wrestling with Papa.

He hit the side of a table with his face on Sunday while trying to crawl up it and has a lovely purple bruise.  I know that this is just the first of many.

Hopefully this is a sign that my child will love to read like his Mama.

Right now his favorite new food is yogurt.  He especially likes it with mashed banana and a touch of cinnamon.  Bananas don't seem to bother his eczema anymore, so thankfully he can have those again.  He loves following us from room to room.  And he loves his jogging stroller and walks.
